Our Story

Our story is one of journeys, resilience, and community. Many of us came to the UK as refugees, carrying hopes for safety, belonging and a fresh start. Some of us arrived as migrants, seeking new opportunities for our families. Along the way, we were welcomed and supported by incredible local people who stood beside us with kindness and open hearts. Together, we built CulturaLinks Community CIC – a space where differences are celebrated, talents are shared, and friendships are formed. What began with a few people helping each other has now grown into a family that connects cultures, empowers individuals, and makes sure no one feels alone.

Oksana Logvynenko

Founder & HR / AI Transformation Lead

As the founder of CulturaLinks, Oksana brings a unique blend of lived experience and professional expertise. A Ukrainian refugee herself, she has dedicated her career to empowering others, working across charities and local government to support refugees and enhance employment opportunities. Now, as an HR and AI Transformation Specialist, Oksana is passionate about leveraging innovative solutions to build stronger, more inclusive communities.

Monika Jurgiel

Mental Health Project Manager

Monika is a Polish migrant with a big heart for community work. She brings experience from working in charities and also teaches at a Polish school, supporting young people and families. At CulturaLinks, she leads our Mental Health projects with passion and care, making sure everyone has the support they need to feel heard, understood, and connected.

Viktoriia Smyrnova

Ukrainian School Project Coordinator

Viktoriia is a Ukrainian refugee, a devoted mum of two, and a passionate community builder. With experience supporting refugees through charity work, she was the driving force in creating and founding our Ukrainian School in Somerset.

Olha Koptieva

Music & Rhetoric teacher

Olha is a Ukrainian refugee, an Honoured Artist of Variety Art of Ukraine, and an inspiring teacher of Music and Rhetoric at our Ukrainian School. With extensive experience in both pedagogy and performance, she brings together academic knowledge and modern teaching methods to engage and inspire her students. As the founder and conductor of the SVITLO choir, part of the creative project Ukrainian Soul, she actively leads cultural and educational initiatives across the UK

Viktoriia Viunnyk

Ukrainian Language & Geography Teacher

Viktoriia is a Ukrainian refugee whose heart has always been in teaching. Back in Ukraine, she was a devoted teacher, and here she continues to share her passion so that our displaced children can carry their language, culture, and love of geography wherever life takes them. For Viktoriia, teaching is more than a job – it’s a way of keeping memories alive and giving children a sense of identity and pride in their roots.

Bohdaniuk Tetiana

Ukrainian Language & Literature Teacher

Tetiana is a Ukrainian refugee whose passion lies in teaching and bringing people together. She not only teaches children the Ukrainian language and literature, helping them stay connected to their roots, but also supports local Refugee Welcome Hubs in her area. Through her work, Tetiana builds bridges between cultures, creating understanding, friendship, and a sense of belonging for all.

Olena Halan

Math Teacher

Olena is a highly experienced and qualified Math teacher, recognised in Ukraine for her talent and professionalism. As a Ukrainian refugee, her passion for education continues here, where she volunteers her time to support the Ukrainian community and inspire our children. Though a volunteer, Olena is one of the most dedicated members of our team, bringing both knowledge and care to every lesson.

Olha Pavliv

History Teacher

Olha is passionate about ensuring that our children never lose their roots in this diverse and ever-changing world. As a History teacher and Ukrainian refugee, her mission is to help young people feel a deep connection with their homeland despite time and distance. Through her lessons, she inspires love for Ukrainian culture and traditions, nurturing pride and belonging for the next generation.

Natalia Sviatchenko

Business Administrator

Natalia is a Ukrainian refugee whose courage and generosity inspire everyone around her. She divides her time between Ukraine, where she supports the Ukrainian Army, and the UK, where she helps refugees rebuild their lives. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to volunteer with CulturaLinks, bringing her energy, compassion, and commitment to our projects. We deeply value Natalia’s dedication, and we are grateful to have her as part of our team.

Ruslana Sirko

Volunteer & Community Support

Ruslana is a Ukrainian refugee originally from Vovchansk, a town that no longer exists due to the war. A qualified doctor in Ukraine, she has always carried a deep passion for helping others and serving society. Here in the UK, she brings that same dedication to supporting both the Ukrainian and local communities, offering her time, energy, and heart as a volunteer with CulturaLinks. Ruslana’s commitment, resilience, and compassion make her an incredibly valued member of our team, and we are truly grateful to have her with us.

Yasemin Akagunduz

ESOL Volunteer Teacher

Elif is a migrant and an experienced language teacher who speaks four languages fluently. She has lived and worked in seven different countries, bringing with her a rich understanding of cultures and people. Now in the UK, she shares her skills and passion by volunteering as an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher with CulturaLinks, and we are so delighted to have her as part of our team.

Sabia Ebrahim

ESOL Volunteer Teacher

Sabia is a migrant who brings her passion for languages and teaching wherever she goes. She speaks Urdu, Hindi, and Gujarati, and is deeply committed to developing her skills as an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher. Volunteering with several organisations, including CulturaLinks, Sabia’s dedication and enthusiasm shine through in everything she does. We feel very lucky to have her as part of our team.
